About Veronique Chodzko
Véronique Chodzko is a self-employed lawyer specialised in Corporate and business law. She has more than fifteen years’ experience in New Caledonia and worldwide.
Veronica worked as a corporate lawyer specialising in maritime and transport law for a major shipping and stevedoring group based in Noumea, New Caledonia, where she acquired extensive knowledge and experience in the areas of damage and litigation management and maritime practice.
She went on to take up a position as legal department head and steering committee member with one of the three global mining companies operating in New Caledonia.
Working with her team of lawyers and consultants specialised in various areas of local and international law, she developed and implemented the legal tools necessary to ensure the successful outcome of a major mining project: governance, CSR and “good neighbour agreements” contracts and procurement, construction, mine operations, taxation
Véronique was then assigned to the company’s Australia-based project construction team, working with their Australian subsidiary, where she gained in-depth knowledge and experience of change management & international project management.
Véronique developed her international law expertise by completing an 18-month degree course in advanced management in Canada.
During a career which was both specialised and broadly diversified, Véronique had acquired expert experience in the field of corporate legal strategy and she took the decision to set up her own independent Legal Office in 2008, offering her services to corporate clients.
Since then, Véronique has acted as consultant of choice for local and international businesses operating in a variety of areas, particularly the mining and oil & gas industries. She provides services to a portfolio of key clients, including regular updates and reviews of changes in New Caledonian legislation and advice and support in the development of strategies and action plans.
